TGL
“The Tee Sheet with SVP” on ESPN
TGL is a new indoor stadium golf league started by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy that combines state-of-the art technology with 24 PGA TOUR stars competing in weekly prime-time matches on ESPN. Ahead of their January 2025 launch, TGL asked Big Brick to concept, write, and produce a weekly segment that would set the slate for each week’s matches while injecting some fun and humor aimed at grabbing viewers outside the core demo of hardcore golf fans. Enter: “The Tee Sheet with SVP.”
ANIMATING SVP WITH AI
ESPN host Scott Van Pelt has spent years sharing his unique perspective and sense of humor with golf fans around the world, and was the perfect choice to run point on TGL’s weekly broadcasts. But how could we get even more out of SVP in our fun weekly segment? How about tossing some AI into the mix?
Using a combination of Sora, ChatGPT, Act-One, and Runway we created a different animated versions of SVP for each weekly segment. Whether we turned him into a Boston Common “BallFrog” or an over-caffeinated LA barista, each character was only made more fun by the ease with which AI technology was built into our workflow.
CUSTOM GRAPHICS PACKAGE
Our creative team concepted a custom graphics package based on TGL’s previously established visual direction and brand guidelines. Our goal was to complement the look, feel, and energy of each week’s feature and showcase each of the six teams and 24 individual players in the league with their own graphics specifically created for “The Tee Sheet”. We then partnered with the animation squad at Colosseum to bring these ideas to life through a customizable toolkit of “The Tee Sheet”-focused animations that were woven throughout each week’s edit.
Original Score
For an original score, we knew we needed a track with some anthemic heaviness. Our composer on the project, Chris Plante, rallied around classic and newer-school hip hop tracks to help us find our percussive beat. We brought in LA-based mega drummer Curtis Kelly to lay down some bombastic drums before adding a brass/horns section to create a vibe that lets viewers know the fireworks are about to be set off for each segment.
